Shear Properties of Cemented Paste Backfill under Low Confining Stress

Cemented paste backfill (CPB) plays an important role in the mining industry due to safety, cost efficiency, and environmental benefits. Studies on CPB have improved design application of underground mines. Direct shear is one most fundamental parameters for assessing strength. This study harnesses direct tests explore low confining stress behavior CPB. We perform all a standard apparatus combination three binder contents 4.2%, 6.9%, 9.7% with four curing times 3, 7, 14, 28 days, respectively. The applied levels vary range according situ regime. Results are presented by strength envelope, stress-strain property, time content. data suggest that follows Mohr–Coulomb envelope which content dependent. In addition, results show strongly related than time, namely, higher degree hydration, cementation binding force between CPBs.
